Wait, so they can just stop paying while I'm still in treatment?

  • I feel like I'm losing my mind here and need to know if this is normal or if something shady is going on. I've been getting weekly checks for about three months now after hurting my back at work — nothing crazy, just enough to keep the lights on while I do physical therapy — and then this week nothing showed up. No letter, no call, just silence. When I finally got someone on the phone at the insurance company, they told me they're "reviewing" my case and payments are suspended until they finish their investigation. I'm still going to PT twice a week, my doctor hasn't released me to go back, and I have no idea when this review is supposed to end. I'm sitting here trying to figure out how I'm supposed to pay rent next month if they drag this out, and I honestly didn't realize they could just cut people off like that without any warning. I've been reading up on workers comp benefits Kingston NY and it seems like there are rules about how long they have to make a decision on these things, but I'm not clear on whether the clock is already ticking or if they can just leave me hanging indefinitely. Has anyone else had their payments suddenly stopped while still in active treatment? How long did it take to get them started again? Any advice on how to get someone to actually give me a straight answer would be amazing because I'm starting to panic over here.
